100th Anniversary of the First Graduating Class
The beginnings of St. Alphonsus School dates to 1846, when the local German immigrant farmers started a school to educate their children. Over the years it evolved into a rural elementary school. In 1914, the students who would become the first graduates from St. Alphonsus High School entered the first grade. At that time, the school had an enrollment of about 50. With the opening of the Ford Rouge plant, the area quicky transitioned from farmland to city neighborhoods. In fall of 1922, grade 9 was added in the newly completed school building. Additional grades were added successively until the first high school graduating class, numbering four in all, finished grade 12 in 1926.

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Class of 1926 at the annual Alumni Luncheon!
Sunday October 11, 2026, at Fr. Yagley Hall
Mass at 10 am followed by the luncheon at 12 noon.
THE FIRST 100 ALUMNI TO REGISTER FOR THE PARTY CAN ATTEND FOR FREE IF THEY ARE
DUES PAYING MEMBERS OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.
($35 per person for non members and guests)
